I have been there a few times with the folks at work. The place is HUGE and seriously, if you like variety, this place is it. There's a 20-30 foot sushi table, a cold area, a hot foods area and a desert table. The service has never been slow, and although a bit on the expensive side (for lunch) I think the value is there.

Naked Fish

I just had lunch at the Naked FIsh by Fanuiel Hall - wow what a great place!

First - it's never crowded at lunch during the week. That's great when I go there during work.

TOday I had the plaintain encrusted tuna, cooked rare, with a side of sauteed plaintains. I guess I was in a plaintain mood. The portions were a good size and prepared perfectly.

I'm working, so no drinks, but I was tempted by the Mojitos.

I love this place, one of the better places near the financial district to eat lunch.

Machu Picchu in Somerville

This is an amazing Peruvian place at 25 Union Square (although I hear it will be moving a few doors down) I tried it several months ago and even though we live an hour west we make the drive at least once a month!. after my first time, I left the restaurant wondering why I waited so long to try it!! The Jalea is great if you are a big fried seafood fan, although you could order one and share it between a few people and it would be enough. The papa a la huancaina, aji de gallina and papa rellena are among my all-time favorite dishes, and the versions here are pretty good. For those who have never tried it, I would also recommend getting chicha morada (a sweet non-alcoholic drink - a bit like juice - made from purple corn with tasty bits of fruit in it). I would recommend trying the Inca Cola (Peru's national soda) - It is very similar to a sweet version of GingerAle and reminded me of the Brazilian Guarana.

The service was attentive and at a slightly slower pace than what some might expect - though it seemed right on par for what we were going for, they always seem to be one waitress / waiter short. I also enjoyed the music playing: some pan-flute rhythmic jams straight out of Peru. This really set the vibe for me. At times the music became too loud and somewhat distracting. Next time we went, we didn't sit under the speakers.

Great price / Great value, Awesome food.

not a restaurant, per se, but i just made it to sevan's armenian bakery in watertown for the first time today - its incredible! the best made-in-store lahmejeune ive ever had, all sorts of great treats from armenia and the middle east. if you have been, chime in, you know what im talking about. if not, check em out, right on the main drag on mt. auburn st. in watertown.

best indian?

does anyone have opinions on where some really good indian food can be found? ive been having a craving and would love some suggestions on getting it fulfilled. cambridge / somerville area is best as thats where we live, but id check out anything.

so far, ive been to the "indian bistro" (cant rememver the full name) on the main drag in JP, and it was quite good. not totally amazing however, and a little far to repeat frequently.

hey bostonians i need recommendations help

hey there, names gabriel, i am a chef from sf, and i'm visiting my moms in mass, and we are going into boston just for one day to hit up some art museums and shopping. we would like some reccommendations for where to go eat monday evening. i am with my brother, his wife and my mom, we are all pretty serious foodies and winos, and are looking for something upscale casual(noone wants to really worry about dressing up as we will be running around all day), kinda hip, fun, with really spectacular food, nice atmosphere, and a decent wine list. whaddya got for me? what cant i miss?

Ruth's Chris Steak House - review

I don't recommend eating here...although the service was wonderful, I've had better food at the Texas Roadhouse. All cooked meat was either overdone or not done enough. The desserts were overly sweet. The two best things were the crabcakes, and the crab that I had on my tuna steak.

Wanna break the bank and impress somebody special - call Blue Ginger and make a reservation a month in advance it's worth it!

I took my wife for our five year anniversary - just a stunning culinary experience.

You simply must get the Alaskan butterfish to believe it. My wife had that and I had a black pepper lobster. WOW!

For those that like something different in a martini - they serve a ginger infused grey goose vodka martini called a Gloden Goose - mmmmmmmmmmmm. That's the stuff.

Dessert and apps were also killer.

The waitress we had was attentive without being obnoxious and knew the menu and drink list like the back of her hand.

Dinner - including drinks, apps, dessert and coffee was around $150.

I hear lunch is great too, and you don't need a reservation a month in advance.
